All TOK Assessment will be completed Fall Semester of Senior Year.
Part I – External Assessment Essay on a prescribed title (1200-1600 words) ~ 67% of final mark
One essay on a title chosen from a list of 10 titles prescribed by the IBO for each examination session with planning and progress form. Students will submit an essay on any one of the six titles prescribed by the IB. The titles ask generic questions about knowledge and are cross-disciplinary in nature. They may be answered with reference to any part or parts of the TOK course, to specific disciplines, or with reference to opinions gained about knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.
Prescribed titles are released in September. We will work to “unpack” the titles together but this paper is an independent endeavor. You will have 3 interactions with me to support you in writing your paper. It will be submitted to the IB in March.
Part II – Internal Assessment The presentation (approximately 10 minutes per student) ~ 33% of final mark
The TOK Presentation requires students to identify and explore a knowledge question raised by a real-life situation that is of interest to them with one written presentation planning document. The knowledge question should be developed and reflected upon. The product of this reflection can be applied back to the real-world level with other real-life situations.
Presentation planning will begin at the beginning of the semester. We will endeavor to give you the opportunity to complete 2 presentations. Then, you will get to choose your best presentation to submit to the IB. We will aim for Round 1 of presentations will be completed in October and Round 2 will be completed in November.
